Early wishes for a fabulous birthday celebration. I have a picture of you ( as well as of several other classmates) that I will be happy to text, mail or email you if you would like it. I think it was taken at Pocahontas State Park, but don’t know who took it or how it ended up in a box of pictures that my mother had. If you would like it, please e-mail me at Take care and happy birthday.

Hi Sue
I came upon a box of pictures from among my mothers stored stuff. In one photo album there were pictures that I had not seen before. Don’t know who took them or how she got them, but several classmates appear in them. I’m guessing they were taken at Pocahontas State Park. My best guess is that they were taken by my friend and neighbor from class of 1963. Anyway, a copy is attached. If you would like the original, just let me know where to send it and I’ll drop it in yhe mail

Happy Birthday my “old” friend. This year is also an anniversary of sorts. We became friends 60 years ago in ninth grade and, if my memory doesn’t fail me, I drove you to the bus terminal on your way to the USAF 55 years ago in 1964. Thank you for your service; thank you for being my friend; and, may you fly high in clear blue skies for many, many years.

Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow. This means that you will have a happy birthday followed by the most spectacular year of your life filled with happiness. And, of course, like Bill Murray, you will be required to repeat that happiness over and over during the coming years.

Tom! Just think! From the exact second you were born until that time on your birthday, you will have lived 2 billion, three hundred thirty five million, three hundred eleven thousand, six hundred seconds. I tried to wrap my mind around something that large to gain perspective and came up with the following: 1 the number of tall tales that come out of Texas each day, 2 the number of grains of sand I brought back in my clothing from Virginia Beach in my teens and early 20's 3 and given the ubiquitousness of its airing, the total number of grains of sand that have passed through the hour glass in the Wizard of Oz. Ah, like sands through the hour glass, so go the seconds of our lives. Now is the time to flip that old hour glass and let the sand-seconds tick off until I can resend this message as a flash back again in 74 years. Have a happy birthday -- but watch out for flying monkeys (especially those that have a propensity to fling things).

Although I didn’t know you in high school, you were among a handful of classmates that I admired as most representative of TJ spirit and leadership. So, it was a great honor to finally meet you at the 55th reunion. I hope all is well with you and Jimmy and that you have a fabulous birthday celebration.
