For all of our classmates living in Fla. and any others living in the path of Irma- I just wanted you to know that the rest of your classmates are thinking about you doing this time of crisis. You are in our prayers as well. If you can please keep us posted on how you are doing.    God Bless,

I just found out that Carol Battige Levine also lives in Florida.  Carol lives in Gulf Cove.  Please keep Carol in your prayers also.

I have been corresponding with Carol for a while, asking her to come to the Reunion this week.  She said it was too far to travel.  Now she says they are "hunkering down" in their home in a little community east of Sarasota.

I have offered the use of our Florida condo to those in our graduating class who live in Florida, but they seem to be staying at home "to weather out the storm."   I hope and pray they all stay safe.

The Hurricane is due reach Ft. Myers soon.  Nancy Wallerstein and Carol Battlige are a little north of there. Also, Beverly Breitstein.  Hope they are all safe and warm!  We are thinking of you all !

Will there be food to eat Friday night or should we eat before coming?

Pizza Party with Cash Bar -- 7:30 to 10:00 PM

Sidney is always ready to feed us.  Friday Night Meet and Greet at Padow's in Innsbrook includes pizza.  Sidney purchased the pizza recipes from the Celebrity Room several years ago.  The pizza is fantastic (make you tongue beat your brains out) and there will also be a salad bar.  This is all included in the $85 reunion dinner/dance registration you paid.  You will be asked to purchase your drinks (beer, wine and soft drinks).

Mike, I am bringing you another CD of last reunion, also from some of the luncheons. I also put some in an album that we can put on table with other memories. Looking forward to seeing all. We will be coming down early Friday. Looking forward to seeing everyone again. After the reunion we are spending a few days with my friend in Toppings. It would be great if you two could come over one night for a visit. Mary Lee

How thoughtful of you.  Looking forward to seeing the photos.  The Album for the table sounds perfect.  See you Friday night at Padow's.

We would love to meet up with you and Roger while you are in Topping.  Perhaps you and your friends could meet us one evening for dinner at Merrior.

Give my best to Roger.

Carey and I send our love to all Tee Jay Class of 1962 classmates.  Seldom a day goes by that there is not a remembrance of you and the impact you have had on our lives.  So many classes together, assemblies, meals, athletic events and more wove together a fabric, a tapestry of which each of you is a part.

Many times I have realized what a great blessing it was to attend Thomas Jefferson High School in 1958-1962.  What a great education we were afforded; what a great mix of people we had a chance to know.  The preparation Tee Jay gave us has stood the test of time and proven itself worthy.  And over the years since we graduated, learning the life stories of others in our Class, hearing of the experiences you have had, and seeing how you have faced life’s joys and sadness, has enriched my life.

A special thank you to all of those who so faithfully plan our reunions, gather us for luncheons, keep us informed, and maintain our website.  Truly I cherish the times of conversation and catching up with one another that you have organized.  These are the nexus of our continued relationships.  Even though we live miles away, you have made us feel as though we were “right there with you”

May the Lord bless your time together this weekend, your fellowship, your travel, your health, and your family.  You are much in our hearts.

Frank,  i am so sorry you will not be there!  Thank you for that wonderful message.  I agree with you.  TJ was a blessing in our lives.  We will miss you both.   Anne Ferrell

Marilyn Wolfe (Ruben)

Awww, Frank!  I thought I would see you there this weekend!!  I am coming to Richmond with the copy of the last Jeffersonian in May, 1962, and I wanted to compare your face now with your ecstatic face in the football uniform when you won the game against Hermitage High School !!!  I was going to have a picture shot of you "then and now!"  I am so sorry you won't be there!

For everybody else: we just found out our flight for today was cancelled, due to the fact that the plane can't land in Georgia, after the hurricane!   So we will be late arriving on Friday, instead of today, and that will mess things up a little !   We were planning to meet Mary Draney Murray and  her husband for a tour, and now that is going to have to get "moved up" to another date and time!  I need to write her right now to tell her, because she made special arrangments for us, which will have to be reassigned !

I hope we are awake and aware on Saturday for the "TJ Tour and Luncheon!"

Traffic Alert

We have been made aware of the possibility of street closings and restricted parking for Monument Avenue, W. Grace Street, and Park Avenue from the Boulevard east (toward downtown) to N. Lombardy Street.  These closures and restricted parking may also affect the cross streets between the Boulevard and Lombardy Street.

We suggest that you avoid potentially heavy traffic and rerouting by using either Broad Street, Cary Street or Interstate 64/95 if you plan on traveling downtown either Friday afternoon/evening or during the day Saturday.

Linda Salsbury (Weinstein)

I have come to the library to send this note because I do not have any internet because of the storm.  I am so very sorry that I won't be able to see my friends from so long ago at this 55th reunion.  I am sending hugs your way.

I stayed in a local shelter for three days.  My street was flooded and I had no power, so I stayed until they kicked me out.  My house is fine, but there is so much to do outside.  I was so very lucky, but I am exhausted.  We had tornado warnings about every hour during the storm.  Several touched down near me.  Very stressful!

Life will get back to "normal for Florida" fairly soon, I hope.

Have a great time reliving old times and new and know I will be thinking kind thoughts of you this weekend.

Most fondly,

Linda Salsbury Weinstein

Dear Classmates,

Sorry, I will not be able to attend the reunion tonight. I live in Atlanta now and we had hurricane Irma come though. Fortunately, I only had some large tree limbs come down. I had two friends from South Florida staying with me that were fleeing the hurricane. I hope you all have a blast and dance the night away. Maybe I can make it to the Sixieth Reunion if there is one.

Regards to all,

Carlin (Cokey Hudgins) Hanzas

What a wonderful Reunion Weekend!  A great time was had by all.  The Reunion Committee would like to thank all who attended and all who brought memorabilia to share.  Many traveled great distances to be with us and others made the busy trek from Virginia Beach and back just for the dinner/dance.  Thank you.

Special thanks also to the spouses and significant others of the classmates who attended and helped make the reunion a big success.  We consider each of you a classmate and friend.  Thanks for showing up and taking part.  Thanks also to those classmates who graduated from George Wythe and John Marshall for being with us.

To those who couldn’t attend, you were in our thoughts.  Those suffering the effects of Hurricane Harvey and Irma and those who are sick or whose loved ones are sick, you were and still are in our prayers.  We ask G_d to restore your health and well-being.

Finally, to all of you taking photographs, please send them to me so I can post them on the website.

Regards,

Dear Classmates:

Now that we have observed our 55th High School Reunion, I thought I would share some thoughts with you all. Certainly as discussed many times while we were all together, who would have guessed 55 years ago in 1962, that we would be leaving Thomas Jefferson High School armed with that High School Diploma earned in graduation. Importantly also are the relationships that would carry and endure these many years in freindship? Yes, TJ was a unique environment, however, you all brought with you your intrinsic character that has continued in these many years. Seeing you all, brings joy to me as I think it does to all of you in knowing that these relationships transend our individual "travels" in life from the day we graduated. Recently, my wife and I spent a night in Beauford, South Carolina. We took a carriage ride tour of the city. Our guide commented on how many movies were actually shot in Beauford. "Prince of Tides", Forest Gump, and others but among these iconic films was also " THE BIG CHILL". When we returned home we rented these movies that we had seen before. I think about in particular, THE BIG CHILL. Not that the content is equal to what we have in this graduation class, but rather that our friendships and life "travels" have taken us for the most part, away from each other. Being able to gather as we did these past few days, has allowed us to rekindle our love and caring for each other. WE are very fortunate that our lives brought us all together in this Reunion celebration. I also would be very remiss if I did not recognize those on the Reunion committee and in particular, Mike Floyd for the work he does almost daily in keeping us all in touch through his management of our web site. This "GLUE" binds us and connects us and for that I and I am sure you, are most grateful. As I sign off, I am reminded of the Bob Hope song that was sung at the end of his TV show. "Thanks for the Memories". Thank you all for being who you are. THANKS FOR THE "OUTSTANDING" MEMORIES you bring and have brought in your collective friendships to us ALL.

Dear fellow reunion committe members,

I'd like to give a BIG THANK YOU, for your time, efforts, and devotion to making our 55th reunion so much fun.  The hours spent planning our reunion were well worth it after seeing the big smiles on everyone's faces at the various events this past weekend. Seeing so many people enjoying the music Saturday night brought many big smiles to my face.  Thank you again and we'll see each other at the 'wrap up' meeting on Oct. 25th.

A great big "thank you" goes out to all of the reunion committee whose efforts produced an wonderful weekend. Also thanks to all who attended. I envy my classmates who live in Richmond or nearby for the ability to connect with one another. Coming from farther away, I really appreciated being able to re-connect with so many of you. We must have all done something right along the way, as everyone seemed happy and we look better than I expected . It must have been the education we received, or that good, clean southern living. Who knows? Many, many thanks to those who made everything come together. Now, if I could only lose some weight and grow some hair.........

I wanted to add my appreciation to the members of the Reunion Committee who worked so hard to make a good time for all.  I appreciate the opportunity to see my dear classmates for TJ Class of 1962.  Bless you all and be safe and "may the force be with you in the coming years."  Much love!!

If you have not viewed Mike Floyd's "In Memory from the Reunion," please do so.  The music choice was most appropriate, Mike - very moving.

Wasn't it a wonderful weekend.  I personally would need at least a week to get around to talk to all I would have liked to, but I don't think I could handle that much fun at my age.  Russell did his usual excellent job and particularly excelled in his choice of tunes by the Escorts.  We all enjoyed the pizza and box lunches, Sidney, and it was a joy to see you out there dancing and spurring on all on the floor.  I thank Jimmy Hales and George Sheer for helping me with the TJ elevator and was sorry I had to turn down Jimmy's offer to sell me an elevator pass.  I must tell you that working with those named above and with Sue, Susie, Beverley, Billy, and Ernie on planning our festivities was wonderful.

Melvin, Mike, Russell, Bobby, and Cile, your comments on the Reunion were well expressed and touching.  Melvin, you always have such a special way of expressing yourself.  Associating our times with The Big Chill was so appropriate.  I too wish we could have another gathering so those who were unable to attend could come.  I wonder what everyone is doing next weekend?

We just reached Phoenix after 12 hours on a 3-stop plane ride, and all I can think about is how much fun we      had seeing old friends this past weekend!  I don't think we have enjoyed anything so much since our younger daughter's wedding 3 years ago !!!  I took tons and tons of photos which we will have to upload soon for Mike   to add to the Website!  Also, we were both in such a good mood all weekend long! --- it wsa a nice break from "Desert LIving," and I , too, wish we could have added a few more days to meet with those who arrived late to Sunday brunch!  Mike, your prayers were truly inspiring; I think you should start your own church!  Russell,  watching you and Sidney and Melvin dancing on Saturday night was such fun!  Seeing all my friends from Richmond and Virginia Beach plus those from out-of-State was so heart-warming!   I felt like I was back in school again - but having much more fun, without the homework and tests !!!   Thank you for a great weekend!!! - I wish we lived closer and could attend one of the luncheons, because 5 more years seems like a long time to wait!!!  I already miss everybody !!! - but we will try to keep in touch on this website!!!  Also, we drove out to the country to see Arleen Zell  and her husband on Sunday afternoon and met Mary Draney and her husband for Breakfast on Monday, so I am hoping they will attend the next Reunion or a luncheon in the future!  "Make New Friends, Keep the Old, Those are Silver, These are Gold!"
