I am SO sorry to hear about Mike!!   Joel & I have been battling something similar for 2 weeks now in Arizona!   The Public Health Department sent me an email a month ago saying "Watch out !" and gave a list of symptoms that we have also suffered.  Luckily, our local Urgent Care is "on top of all this" and the friendly Nurse Practitioner gave me 3 great prescriptions to help me along.  Mike, we are all thinking of you and hope you will be hopping along sooner than predicted!!!!  You have done so much for our class, and we know you deserve a good rest, but preferably, in a happier location than a hospital bed !!  We miss you , we love you, and we hope you will soon be strong enough to prepare for our Class Reunion in September!!!  Just remember the words of Joel's nurse when he came home from surgery in l990:  "Don't forget to breathe every day!!!"  Love ya!  Joel & Mar --

Mary Lee Hudson (Meacham)

Dear Mike, Wishing you a complete and speedy recovery. You are getting a lot of prayers from my prayer chains. I also say my healing prayers for you. Listen to Harriett and the doctors and please rest. We probably won't be down now till sometime in May due to family coming down from Rhode Island because of spring break. Just rest, and you will be soon on the road to recovery. Thanks for all you do for us. YOU ROCK! Mary Lee

Mary Lee Hudson (Meacham)

Dear Russell, It doesn't look like April will be good for us for the luncheon. Our family from Rhode Island will be down because of their Spring Break. We will be up in RI the first part of April. May would be better. We have put Mike on several of my prayer chains. Prayers, as you well know, are miracle workers. We are praying and I will send cards to him at his house. Thank's for letting us know. Mary Lee

We need you back steering the SS TeeJay, Captain Mike, so get well quickly, "Catch the tide" to sail over the shoals of illness to seas of good health.

Hope you are feeling a little better today, Mike!

It is 6 months until the TJ Reunion, so take your time getting well,

but know we are thinking about you!!!

PS -  Wow!   What a poet you are, George Armstrong!

Thanks Marilyn,

Oh if only Mrs. Gary agreed with you.

Marilyn Wolfe (Ruben)

George Armstrong, I really like your use of Metaphor!

You are very clever!

I never had Mrs. Gary for English!  I had Miss Drew, Miss Tankard, and Miss Broaddus.

I vaguely remember writing a sonnet in Miss Drew's class -- I have that somewhee in my head!

--and my term paper on Charles Dickens!

But the teacher who made the biggest impression on me was Miss Tankard.

I still remember the panels on American playwrights and working on "The Jeffersonian."

That was my most exciting class in high school !

(Outside of Dramatics with Miss Kritzer!)

Correction:

The sonnet was in Miss Broaddus's class.

(It is 6 a.m. here in Arizona, and I am NOT fully awake yet!!)

Mike,

George Armstrong let me know about your situtation.  Being in San Antonio, Texas and 50 or so years separated from all but a few class members, contacts are all but nonexistan  Anyway I've had  15 years of hospital patient care experience.  Hope you received and read Sandi's and my card?  The words should help some??     Our Bear

Mike Floyd

Hi Everyone,

I'm back but on a limited basis.  I came home from the hospital Sunday evening and I have been resting and taking my meds since then.  Today is the first day I have tried to do anything on my computer and I have limited myself to one hour.   Up until now, I have limited my activity to my smartphone.

I want to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers, cards, telephone calls, email messages, hospital visits and postings on the website.  To tell the truth, it has been a little overwhelming, but we have always a been a close and caring class.  I hadn’t expected, and very much appreciate the outpouring of blessings from all of you.

My doctor says that the recovery will be slow and expects that it will take at least a month before I’m back to nearly normal.  I’m not pushing it and have managed to overcome the desire to communicate my appreciation to each of you individually, but know that each of you is very much appreciated.

I’m looking forward to continuing to manage the website and work on our 55th Reunion.  To all of you, thank you and stay well.

Mike

Mike,

Just take each day one at a time.  You're in recovery mode.  Keep it that way.  No repeats!!!

Mike,

Glad to know you are back in the saddle and feeling better. Take your time to make sure you don'y have a relapse. One good thing about this is that you learned how many of your TJ friends care about you. I am going to have my prostate removed May 1st, so if you have any tips for hospital life for me, be sure to pass them on.

I will look forward to catching up in September at our 55th reunion. I still remember when you told the substitute teacher at Hill that your name was "Pinky."

Stay well,

Bobby

Anne Roberts (Garmon)

Mike, I am so glad to hear that you're home !  As the saying goes ... " It's hard to keep a good man down" smiley

Take it easy and enjoy what will hopefully be some warm weather before too long.

Whenever you feel up to it, maybe you could consider adding a few Chuck Berry tunes to the home page in honor of his passing this week.  We all danced to his music for many years.

Please continue to take good care of yourself,

Anne
