Mike,

Glad to know you are back in the saddle and feeling better. Take your time to make sure you don'y have a relapse. One good thing about this is that you learned how many of your TJ friends care about you. I am going to have my prostate removed May 1st, so if you have any tips for hospital life for me, be sure to pass them on.

I will look forward to catching up in September at our 55th reunion. I still remember when you told the substitute teacher at Hill that your name was "Pinky."

Stay well,

Bobby

Mike, I am so glad to hear that you're home !  As the saying goes ... " It's hard to keep a good man down" smiley

Take it easy and enjoy what will hopefully be some warm weather before too long.

Whenever you feel up to it, maybe you could consider adding a few Chuck Berry tunes to the home page in honor of his passing this week.  We all danced to his music for many years.

Please continue to take good care of yourself,

Anne

Dear Bobby,

Before reading your message just now, I thought earlier today we all should "Stop" and say a silent prayer for each other and our friends. So many folks are going thru something, being health issues, family problems, life in general, and "ole" age!! (Although we are still young at heartsmiley.)     Most often, these issues are unknown to us.  Bobby, thinking of you and your family in the days ahead. Please keep us posted.

Blessings to you!

Jo Ellen

Wonderfully said John Ellen.  We do all need to keep each other in our prayers.  Thank you and Bobby for sharing.

Any more on the reunion in Sept?  Phoned George Armstrong about attending.  Coming from San Antonio to DC area then Richmond means lead time.  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

Mike, we are so glad you are home again!!!!  Just forget about the Website for a while and take it easy!!!   Joel & I have "lung problems" every January through the end of March every year here, even though it is probably 30-40 degrees warmer than the rest of the country!!!  Wrap a knit scarf around your neck, drink lots of hot tea with honey, and eat lots of chicken soup!!!!   You still have 6 months to recuperate, so we will look forward to seeing you at the Reunion in September, when we will see your smiling face and  you can dance all night to "The Oldies"  with your wife!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bobby, we hope you will soar through your surgery as fast as you can swish your tennis racket!!!   Then you will have a while to get your strength back before the Reunion, and we can see you again!!!   Please relax and know we are all thinking about you!  Just think of it as part of "The Game of Life," and remember, "You're A Winner!"

Hi Mike:

It's so great to know that you're home from the hospital and on the mend.  We've all missed you.  Take it easy like the doctor says and you'll be back to donig what you love most in no time.  Wishing you a full recovery.

Oh Mike,  I am so glad to read you are home.  And I know Harriet is happy too.   Recovery from pneumonia takes a while, so hang in there.  And feeling like a dishrag can get you down.  So take it easy and be good to yourself.  You have a whole team of fans pulling for you and praying for you too!

During the past week, 100 lemons fell off the lemon tree on the side of my condo!!  I put l5 in my refrigerator, gave l5 to my daughter, and then another 70 fell down a few days later!!!  We are going to Sunday Breakfast tomorrow morning at my Daughter's Husband's Aunt's house, so I gave my Daughter a big bag full of lemons  tonight to take over there, and there is still a bucket full in my sink!

These lemons are REALLY BIG AND FAT,  and they make the most delicious Lemonade!!!!  I have been drinking it for the past several days, and it has supplied enough Vitamin C to stop my awful cold !!!

So, Mike, if you love Lemonade, have your wife make some at home with fresh lemons and water, and add 1-2 teaspoons of sugar!   It will give you back some of the energy you have lost being sick and it tastes great!!!

(This idea also goes for anyone else in our class who is suffering from colds, flu, allergies, and "Spring Fever."   Enjoy!!!

A couple of beautiful 🌇 days.  Saturday with temps. in the mid 70's walked about 3 city blocks down past our boat ⛵and back.  Today walked about twice that down to Kilmer's Point to view the Rappahannock River, Urbanna Creek and Robinson Creek where we keep our boat ⛵.

Other good 😊news.  Slipped below 160 yesterday (158 lbs. -19 lbs.)  Don't think I've seen the 150's since Tee Jay.  Back at 160 this morning 🌅.  Blood oxygen  saturation improving each day.  Best when walking.

Feeling better each day.  Thanks everyone for your continued thoughts a and prayers.  They are working.

That's great, Mike!!! Walking is the best exercise you can get for breathing, outside of maybe swimming!

I also took a walk last week! - I had to get something out in the mail before 1:30 p.m. !!!

The UPS store was one block away from my old house, but now there is one l0 blocks away from my new condo!

So off I went, and I made it in 20 minutes!!!I

But when I reached my destination, the sky opened up, and it began pouring rain!

So I "bummed a ride" home with my daughter

Next time:  "Round Trip!!!"

PS - There is something wrong with this Forum section!   I used to be able to go to the next line with the

"Return Key."

Now, everytime I do that, the cursor ends up on the top of the page!!!

(What's up with that???)

Michael:

What great news you have shared with us. 150 lbs. is something that I have not had as a total of my body weight since Albert Hill Days!!!!! Keep up the great recovery and know that we are praying for you.

Great news, Mike!  Glad you're back home!  Keep up the walking - I agree that's it's the best overall exercise. And good blood/oxy satuation level as well!  I had such a great time at the luncheon in January and am going to try to make it to the reunion in September.

I've since had cataract surgery in both eyes but recovery has been a very difficult process. Will have my final follow-up in a week or so.  Driving vision is great, reading ... impossible!  I'm an avid reader who has been reduced to watching 5 or 6 channels out of 100s available if I want to know what's going on!  But, like all things, "this, too, shall pass."  It's getting a little better day by day.

Back to walking ... keep up the exercise, Mike. It will make a difference.  I have a great "track" right inside my apartment complex which was built with the lay of the land. I have the advantage of up and down hills (some steeper than others) and sidewalks with up and down stairs.  Distance is about 2 miles to walk the entire complex and my best time has been 25 minutes!  I tend to walk rather than stroll when I'm "on a mission!" LOL!

Good show, Jo-Ann!   It is "flat as a poker chip" here in Yuma!   The only "stairs" I have had here for the past l8 years were the 3 steps going up to my (former) 2-bedroom Mobile, or the steep staircase going down to the basement of my daughter and son-in-law's house!  Everything else in this town is concrete!!!  Folks who want to "climb" go out on Highway 8 to do that, or they drive to the Sand Dunes in California or up to Flagstaff, where it is cool and breezy and the trees are really tall !!!

Hope your eyes get better.  I was told mine aren't bad enough for cataract surgery yet, but I do have a bad problem with my right eye, which is practically useless, due to the fact that the lighting in the former mobile was so bad, I could hardly see when I was reading or sewing in  the corner of the sofa. The lamp on one side waa close by, but the lamp on the other side was too far away, thus casting a shadow instead of light. They call it "Macular Degeneration."  My left eye is pretty good, so I see things mostly with that.  I guess it is genetic, because my Auntie in Florida had the same problem!

Anyway, Mike, now that you are "up and about," enjoy the great weather!   When Fall arrives, it well get cooler, so you might as well take advantage of it now!!!  Keep on walkin' !!!

I am sorry to have to report that Frank Louthan's brother Reeves passed away Sunday, March 26th in Florida.  Tentative plans are for a memorial service Saturday a week, April 8th in Richmond.  More information as it becomes available.  Please keep Frank, Reeves, and their families in your prayers.

Prayer for the Departed

Eternal rest grant unto them , O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them .
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Prayer for those Who Grieve

Console those of us who are grieving today, give us Your strength, Heavenly Father. Remind us of Your promises, comfort us when loneliness strikes and we feel lost. We pour out our hearts to You today Lord, for we are broken, shattered and weary. We need You, we are crying out in desperation in search of that peace that will soon emerge as we cling to You.

I am so sorry to hear about Frank Louthan's brother!   It is always a shock to lose someone in one's family, who one has known for so long. Prayers for the family and for his soul.  Our thoughts are with you, Frank!  Be well, and know that you have a strong support system in "The TJ Family," who are there for you at this difficult time.

Frank, I'm so sorry to hear about Reeves. I called Jim Holdren, Reeves track coach when he was at Tee Jay. He sends his condolences, he will be taking the Maggie Walker Track team to a meet on the 8th.  Jackie and I will be in Calif.  God Bless my friend,  Russell

I am so excited!   One of my daughter's best friends here in Yuma has a wonderful daughter herself, who is in a relationship with a young man in the Coast Guard in San Diego!!!  They will be moving to Chesapeake, Virginia  in 2 months, with their new baby, and will live there for the next 6 years!

She has been living in San Diego for a while, going to school to study Health Sciences and participating in the San Diego Ballet's production of "The Nutcracker" and also an Annual Spring Ballet Program.  This beautiful young lady was the lead dancer in Yuma's "Nutcracker" Ballet for many years, and she also played "Peter Pan" in Georgia, and went to Japan with the Walt Disney Touring Company.

I only know about a few people in our TJ class who now live at Virginia Beach or in Norfolk, Portsmouth, or Newport News.  If any of you want to meet a fantastic young lady and her family please let me know!  They don't know anybody there, but they are looking forward to an exciting new life on the East Coast -- at least for 6 years!  Everyone here is overjoyed at their "Double-Blessing!"   She gets to travel and see new sights with her loved ones, and her parents will probably fly out there occasionally to visit!!!

We have known her and her parents and her brother and sister for years and years, and her little Sister is one of my Granddaughter's friends.  She will be looking around the Tri-City area to see where there are opportunities for her to dance in a local Ballet and also to teach it!  She taught Ballet in Yuma and in San Diego, so she has a lot of experience in that area, as well !

I am hoping that we will get a chance to visit with them either before or after our Reunion Weekend!!  After the last one, Joel & I drove down to Norfolk for our flight to AZ, and  we "waited out the hurricane" at a hotel located next to the Harbor!  We could see the big Navy Ships and Coast Guard Ships from the dining room window!  Wow!   It felt almost like San Diego!!!

I never dreamed I would meet somebody here who would move to the East Coast !   One of my daughter's college friends from ASU has a brother who moved close to Richmond, but that was long, long ago!   Watch out, Virginia!  This "Ballet Pro" is going to take the East Coast by storm!!!

Frank: Elsie and I send our deepest sympathies to you and your family on the passing of your brother. Having lost a sister a few years ago I know full well how devastating your loss is to you. May G-D Bless you and your family and you are in our prayers.

Hi everyone,

The new baseball scoreboard was dedicated today and Vikings Baseball team responded by winning both games of the double header with Armstrong--5-4 & 6-5.  What a great work out for the new scoreboard!!  Channel 6 was there so you might see it on T.V. tonight. Thank you Class of '64, Charlie Wingate, and the Vikings Fund.

Go Vikings!
