Hi Mary Lee and everyone,

I have been out of commission for nearly a month now and don't know if a date has been set for the Spring Class Luncheon.  I will refer this question to Russell and post the date as soon as possible.

Mike

LOUTHAN, Richard Reaves, 67, of Jupiter, Fla., passed away on Sunday, March 26, after a courageous battle against Benson's syndrome. Reaves was the son of Marilyn Reaves Louthan and the late Frank Garrett Louthan Jr. He was born in Richmond, Va. on August 8, 1949. Reaves graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, received a Bachelor's degree from Davidson College and a Master of Business Administration from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.Reaves married Noreen Frances O'Malley in New York prior to their returning to Richmond. Prior to retiring in 2013, Reaves worked for Woodfin Oil for over 20 years. His personal and professional relationships with John, Jack and the many Woodfin associates were endearing to him. Like his father and grandfather, Reaves was an active member and President of the Kiwanis Club of Richmond, supporting numerous community projects and living the Kiwanis ideals. He was active with Darden Alumni in the Richmond area and was a long-time manager for the First Presbyterian softball team. Reaves is survived by his wife, Noreen; his children, son, Garrett Louthan (wife, Jennifer Louthan) and daughter, Molly Louthan; and grandchildren, Zoey and Ezra. He is also survived by his mother, Marilyn Reaves Louthan; and siblings, Frank Louthan, Lynn Slabaugh, Chip Louthan and Robert Louthan. Reaves loved golf and sports, and dancing, most of all. There will be a memorial service at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 8, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Southeast Florida, 3323 W. Commercial Boulevard, Suite 260, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 33309.

This coming week marks the Holiest week celebrated by Christian and Jews.  For Christians, Holy Week begins today Palm Sunday, April 9th and ends with the Ressurection Sunday  Celebration on April 16th.

For Jews, Passover begins at sunset on Monday, April 10th and ends at sunset on Tuesday, April 18th.  "The Fast of the Firstborn" is celebrated on the first day of Passover celebrating the birth of the first born male to a Jewish family and G-d passing over the first born Jewish males.

I will attempt to celebrate these Holy Feast days on our website starting today with Palm Sunday and tomorrow with "The Fast of the Firstborn" and the first of two Seder meals during Passover.

For more information on Palm Sunday and/or The Fast of the Firstborn click on the appropriate link.

May each and everyone of you enjoy this season with family and with friends. Roger and I wish all of you a special Easter as you celebrate with everyone. We are looking forward to the spring luncheon. Do we have a date? The 29th of April or 13th or 20th of May is good. Mary Lee & Roger

Good News!  Saturday I took a turn for the worst and called my friend and our family doctor at his home.  He immediately said you sound like you are getting worst and started me on a new series of antibiotics and steroids.  By Sunday I felt like a new man and by Tuesday I was off of oxygen except for sleeping at night.

I missed posting about the Holy Days yesterday as I was busy seeing my Pulmonologist in Richmond and my family doctor here in Urbanna.  Both visits were spectacular.  I'm well on my way to recovery.  My Pulmonologist is none other than Dan Grinnan, Jr., son of Kay and Dan Grinnan.  He was able to adjust his schedule and see me on very short notice (I understand that Kay had a lot to do with that).  He did a wonderful job of discussing my medical history, reviewing my CAT scan and presenting options to reduce the possibility of more exacerbations in the future.  I was very impressed with Dr. Dan Grinnan and thank you, Kay and Dan, for getting me in to see him so quickly.  He is a very fine doctor.

I have been traveling nearly 100 miles twice a week to Williamsburg for pulmonary therapy for the last 3 years.  I’m doing so well that I resumed my pulmonary therapy today and can travel to Maine for two weeks beginning next Wednesday.

I just wanted you all to know that it looks like I’m out of the woods and how much Harriette and I appreciated all of your messages, cards, telephone call, visits, and thoughts and prayers.  We could feel everyone's love and support and I’m sure this was the power behind my recovery.  Harriette and I are so grateful and I wish each of you a Happy Easter/Passover.

OMG, Mike!  You scared me there for a minute at the beginning of your post!!  I hope you haven't been "wearing yourself out" with your postings on the Tee Jay Page this past week!  I am SO glad that you are feeling better now and can travel and do all the things you like, once more!  Please relax a little and take it easy!  We don't want you to have any more relapses!

I was in Phoenix for a week and did not take my computer along, so I did not have time to wish everybody a Happy Passover and a Happy Easter!   I hope all my classmates will enjoy their holiday!  My daughter held the Seder again at her house, and we introduced my Granddaughter's new boyfriend to all our holiday traditions.  He is a nice kid -- he is in the School Choir and also plays Guitar and Piano, so we have a lot in common!!!

Last night, I completed my 3rd essay for an Online class I am taking on "Fine Arts in Education!"  Every college which offers Online Classes out here has a totally different program!  Learning about Computers is "an experience in itself !")

I am only about 50 years late in finding that class, but I have another 8 hours from other colleges out-of-State.  By the time I finish this course and Student Teaching, I will be almost 75 years old!  Can you believe I have spent all this time chasing after a dream?  Well, my Mom lived until age 96, so I still have "a few years to go!"  Ha! Ha!)

My roses are now blooming outside in the garden, and they are gorgeous!    - Red, White, and Pink. (I think they are "sending me a message!"  After all, aren't the Tee Jay colors "Red and White???"

Enjoy Spring, everybody!!!

As Charlie Cooper would say, "I'll put my money on Mike against any medical issue." Of course, you could have consulted Dr. Farmer, as well. FYI, I met Dr. Grinnan during the recruiting process, as he played tennis at Davidson. Somehow Dad did not force him to golf or basketball, his own areas of specialty. Glad to know that you are doing well. We are all now used cars with 100,000 plus miles on each of us. As long as you keep up the proper maintenance and replace parts as needed they can run for a very long time. All of us are happy to know you are much better.

Michael:  I will add my words to those of our classmates who have already expressed their good wishes and comments. Elsie and are so happy that you have had your "TURN" for the better. Enjoy your trip to Maine and get in touch upon your return. May G-D Bless you and Harriette at this very religious time of year.

Hi Mike,

Wonderful news coming out of such a distressing situation! Wishing you and family a joyous Easter time to really appreciate the lovely weather. So happy you will be able to look up and see beauity of the projected wearther forcast...rather than being under it!

All best wishes,

John

I might have failed to mention what a help Evan Farmer was to Harriette and I during my illness.  Evan lives near Gloucester and visited me several times while in the Hospital and since coming home.  He comforted Harriette and guided her as to what questions to ask and being an advocate for me.

Evan was Dean and Provost of Eastern Virginia Medical School before retiring.  Many of the staff at Walter Reed attended EVMS and after Evan’s first visit the skilled care couldn’t have been better.  I can’t express how thankful we both are for his help and support.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes.

Mike, I have been and still am in the process of packing/moving/unpacking and have been out of touch for a while so was unaware you were having health problems.  Am sorry to read of your relapse but very happy you received such excellent medical care and are doing well now.  Though I really appreciate this wonderful class website, I'm glad you are taking some time for a vacation in Maine, which I hope will be both restful and fun.  Thanks for all you do, but don't neglect to take care of yourself!

Marilyn Wolfe (Ruben)

Right, Gwen!   We ALL have been telling Mike to "take it easy" for a while, but he is one of those guys who just

wants to "get up and go!"   I hope he hears us, this time around!!!

Thanks so much, Evan Farmer, for your assistance to Mike & Harriet !  We are so happy he made that

"connection!"   ("The Right Place" -  "The Right Time!" - "The Right Person!"

And thanks to Kay Drinard's son,  Dan, Jr.  That was "a stroke of luck!"

I hope to see all of you in Richmond in September!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS to everyone!  -  Only 4 more days until  "Passover is Over!"

Sidney Padow, does your store sell Passover Food?

We have a teeny-tiny Synagogue here, and the local stores only carried a few items !!!

We had to buy the rest in Phoenix, and it is running out!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Happy Easter, everybody!    I hope the "Easter Bunny" visits your house and leaves lots of pretty goodies!!!!

Looks like I forgot to mention Dr. Dan Grinnan, Kay, and Dan Sr.-- thanks, its amazing what can happen when all the pieces come together.

You are correct, Russell !!!  It is uncanny how close TeeJay's classmates are & how so many  show up when

          they are needed !

I think that is very unusual !!!

Mike is a lucky guy!
